FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fountain Hills – The Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet (FHSQ) has been named Artists in Residence at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church (DHPC), Carefree, AZ, for the 12-month period beginning April 15, 2021.

The partnership, the first of its kind between a chamber group and the church, allows the two organizations to support and promote each other through live music. DHPC’s support of the quartet will enable the group to expand its library of spiritual music as well as expand its reach as ambassadors of Fountain Hills. The group’s expert musicianship and engaging storytelling has made it a crowd favorite at many venues in the greater Phoenix area.

During the residency period, the quartet will perform a series of free concerts on the DHPC campus and will promote DHPC at its performances throughout the Valley.

“As the world is emerging from COVID-19, we are finding people are more hungry than ever for live music and face-to-face engagement,” said Dale Nelson, FHSQ co-founder and manager. “We were thrilled to be selected as DHPC’s inaugural Artists in Residence as it enables us to bring even more music to audiences in the Valley.”

Darla Gilchrist, Elder for Music and Arts at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church said, “When we looked at forming this position, the FHSQ was clearly the right choice for us. The individual musicians are very personable and their music is highly engaging. We can’t wait to hear them play again!”

The initial Artist-in-Residence concert will be held on Sunday, April 18 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church, 34605 Tom Darlington Rd., Scottsdale. The concert is free of charge and open to the public.

Hi Friends ! I wanted to extend an invitation to come hear some live (yes, LIVE) music this Sunday, April 18. Here’s the deal: Since many people missed out on their favorite holidays last year due to travel restrictions, COVID concerns, and the inability to gather with family and friends, the Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet is putting on a “make-up” concert this Sunday, April 18 at 4:00 p.m. at Desert Hills Presbyterian Church (DHPC). It’s the opening concert of our artist-in-residence concert series. This “make-up” isn’t about lipstick and mascara — it’s about making up for all the holiday celebrations we all missed last year. We’ll be playing music from all the biggest holidays of the past 12 months — St. Patrick’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day. We’ll also be celebrating everyone’s 2020 birthdays in a special way! And of course, the concert will include the funny and fascinating stories behind the music we play. If you’re looking for something to do on Sunday afternoon, please join us! DHPC is located at 34605 N. Tom Darlington Rd., at the corner of Scottsdale Rd. and Carefree Hwy., by those fabulous big boulders that sit right at the entrance to the town of Carefree. Call me if you have any questions, or visit our fantastic new web site at www.fhsaxophones.com . You can also get info at deserthills.org. Best regards, Heather

The Fountain Hills Saxophone Quartet (FHSQ) is thrilled to announce Jeffrey Anthony has joined the quartet as its soprano saxophone player. Jeffrey, who has filled in as a substitute on several occasions, brings an impressive musical resumé to the group.
